A Few Weeks Ago…

…I asked Jerry Ordway to send me a quick photo of whatever SECTION ZERO 1959 page he was working on, to share with you. He sent this:

Then life got in my way, and I didn't have time to share that image with you! And in the meantime— Jerry has inked 7 of the 8 pages of this story! (Entitled THE THING FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE, as you can see from the script in the photo.)

Here's the finished first page:

If you've read the first SECTION ZERO graphic novel, you'll recognize the young lady on this page as Munro— a troublesome lass wearing a sealskin coat and not much else. Rest assured, she's up to her old tricks again.

Unfortunately, I can't show you any other pages in this story because: Spoilers!

I'll be getting these inks in colorist Bill Crabtree's hands ASAP.  I'm aiming by this time next month to have a PDF of the story ready to share with you.

We continue moving forward with having this book finished by the end of the year. Knock on (Wally) wood. (Or, in this case, Jerry Ordway– who's about as close to Woody as you can get these days!)

SZ59: STATE OF THE COMIC

Short Answer: The State of the SECTION ZERO 1959 comic is strong. Stronger than it's been in nearly a year, I'd say.

Outside of getting a PDF of the FANTASTIC ADVENTURES story out to you in time for last Christmas,  a lot of my time the last few months has been taken up with getting the IMPOSSIBLE JONES book out the door. And while there's still a couple dozen books still to ship, the vast amount of that work is done.

Freeing up my time for SZ59.

I've been inking sketches to get back into the swing of it. One of the most recent is WONDER MAN…

It's also one of my favorites. It just clicked, and came together extremely well.

WHEN WILL PEOPLE GET THEIR SKETCHES?

I'm waiting for new mailers to arrive to ship them in.  I should start sending them out next week. Tom hasn't drawn all of them yet, and I haven't inked all of the ones I have, either. If yours is done, I will reach out to you to make sure I have your current address, and then send it your way.

ALL WELL AND GOOD— BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BOOK?

I'm back to inking interior pages as of TODAY.

My goal is to finish SECTION ZERO 1959 and have it in your hands by year's end. As God is my witness. I know that's nearly 3 years since it funded— and no one is more frustrated by that fact than I am, believe me— but there's no physical way I can make it happen any faster.  With 2 kids at home and no school, my work days are shorter and chopped up, making me far less productive. I'm doing the best I can.

Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. As always.

Next Update— which I'll send out around the end of February/beginning of March— I'll show you inked story pages. Maybe even in color!
