THE BOOK YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR IS FINALLY HERE! Along with signed bookplates, Sketchbooks, and other characters co-created by Karl Kesel!

Short and sweet this time, because we're all so busy this time of year.
First: I have the signed Superboy Original Art back from Tom, and those pieces will be mailed out within the next 2 weeks.
I will also be mailing out some sketches— I will contact you if yours is going out. If you don't hear from me, yours is still being worked on.
If you're getting one of these packages, you probably won't get it by Christmas, but will receive it soon after.
One thing that you will get by Christmas is this:
A PDF of the ultra-rare 1959 8-page FANTASTIC ADVENTURES story that introduced "Gorgeous" George Seine, one of the founding members of SECTION ZERO!
A small gift, true, but one I think you'll enjoy, and a clear sign things are again moving forward.
Stay safe. Be well. Talk again very soon…
Sorry this month's update is a bit late— I was wrapping up a small Holiday Kickstarter I put together, and also inked a commercial job for DC Comics— both of which put money in my bank so I can continue working on SECTION ZERO 1959.
Those side projects took up most of my time the last month, so all I was able to do with SZ59 was ink a handful of sketches. But I am now working very hard to get you a digital copy of part of the SZ59 book in time for Christmas.
Again: no one is more frustrated by the long delay in this project that I am, and your patience is deeply appreciated. I'll admit that I'm still adjusting to life during COVID— which means more kid-care for me than usual, and less working hours. Something I seem to keep forgetting.
2021 will be better. For all of us. In so many ways.
A 64-page book I'm launching on Kickstarter Tuesday, October 13th, 7 AM PST.
First Things First: This is taking minimal time away from my work on SECTION ZERO 1959. All the stories in this book have been finished for a long time. In fact, here are some (but certainly not all) of the most recent SZ59 sketches I've inked:
HOLIDAY PANIC collects various Christmas-related stories I've done over the years with my creator-owned characters— IMPOSSIBLE JONES, JOHNNY ZOMBIE, SAM HELL and, yes, SECTION ZERO.
It includes the same SZ Christmas story you may have seen, digitally, a year ago— in print here for the first time!
And then there's this:
A new Alternate Cover featuring Sargasso by Tom Grummett! Which I'm inking right now—
See?
There are also some other very cool stories in the book, if I do say so myself. (And I believe I just did.)
Here's the thing: Like I said, all interior art for this book is DONE. I'm still pulling the cover(s)together, but they'll be wrapped in a week or two. I have a printer lined up and ready to go.
This book will be in your hands by CHRISTMAS!
As an added bonus, everyone getting the book will also get a…
Can't hurt to check it out, right? Here's the link to the pre-launch page:

Sign up and you can be among the first to PANIC! this Holiday season!
I wouldn't want it any other way. ;-)
Ho Ho Ho!
I've spent a lot of time recently signing Bookplates for SECTION ZERO 1959…
…And for the SECTION ZERO SKETCHBOOK…
These are being shipped to TOM GRUMMETT today— October 6, 2020— along with the ORIGINAL ART pieces that were claimed during the campaign.
Once Tom signs and returns everything to me, I will mail the ORIGINAL ART pieces out. (Getting the ORIGINAL ART out is the primary purpose of this endeavor— but I figured as long as I was sending stuff to Tom to be signed, why not include the bookplates? That way they're ready when I need them, and I don't have to send another package into the unpredictable, unknowable world of the Postal System!)
I've also been chipping away at inking the SKETCHES, including this one of DOOMSDAY:
IMPOSSIBLE JONES is off to the printer now, which frees up my time to focus on SECTION ZERO 1959. Theoretically. This past week I've wasted far too much time dealing with my bank about a (quite frankly amatuerish) screw-up in the wire transfer of funds to the printer. Not only is it frustrating because these people are supposed to know what they're doing, but also because no one is willing to admit they made a mistake, and just point point fingers at each other. Grrrr…
That said: things are picking up on SZ59! I have taken on one small special project for DC Comics— inking spot illustrations over Neil Edwards' pencils— simply because the money was too good to turn down, and it's jobs like that which make it possible for me to work on passion projects like SZ59. But I emphasize: this is a small job.
Stay safe. Be well. Talk soon.
