July Update
about 2 years ago – Sun, Jul 14, 2024 at 08:33:42 AM

I'll keep it short: Tom hasn't drawn any new pages in the past month, and has not responded to my reaching out to him multiple times.

I assume this is because of his convention schedule. Or possibly because he's taken on another assignment. Although neither of those changes how frustrating this is. I'm sure he'll get me those LAST 5 PAGES— it's just a question of when.

IN THE MEANTIME, I would like to offer a small, very inadequate olive branch:

These are 2 SZ59 commission pieces Tom and I did for Carl Sodergren, which I will be handing off to him in person at the BALTIMORE COMIC CON.

I'd like to offer you the same opportunity.

If you have a SZ59 Sketch or Commission that Tom has already drawn (he has not drawn all of them) and already sent to me for inking (he may not have sent all the ones he's drawn), and if you are going to be at either the ROSE CITY COMIC CON (September 6-8) or BALTIMORE COMIC CON (September 20-22) I will have your piece finished and give it to you in person at one of those shows.

This is how we'll do this:

  • Let me know which show you'll be at.
  • I will check the Sketch/Commission list to see if Tom has drawn your piece, and if so: if I have it.
  • I will let you know if I do or do not have your piece.
  • If I have your piece, I will make sure it is finished by the show (many are already finished), and give it to you there.

I know this is less than ideal. I know this isn't the book. But it's what I can do right now.

Thank you for your continued patience. The finish line is within sight…

June Update
over 2 years ago – Sun, Jun 02, 2024 at 07:24:33 AM

Sorry I missed last month. Tom had fallen a bit behind, and I was hoping he'd do some catch-up. He wasn't able to, unfortunately. Here's a bit from a page he turned in a few days ago:

Given that he's drawing the Thrilling Climax, it's hard to show much.

Tom now has 5 PAGES left to draw.

Then everything will fall on my shoulders. Something I'm very aware of, and am re-arranging my schedule to make room for.

Some of you have asked about Sketches. Tom still has a good number still to draw. But I'm not going to push him there until he finishes the story itself.

April Update
over 2 years ago – Wed, Apr 17, 2024 at 06:10:14 AM

Spring is Bustin' Out All Over!

Sorry this update is so late. I had a few health problems that were finally scheduled to be dealt with, was rear-ended (no one was hurt, but now I'm dealing with the insurance/repair people) and I got the worst case of pinkeye I've ever had my whole life (from one of my daughter's "friends").

But things are looking up!

Including that Tom only has 7 PAGES LEFT TO DRAW! And he's told me I'll probably get one of them this week.

That would put Tom being done with pencils around the end of May.

And then it all falls on me. And I'm getting my ducks in a row to be ready for that.

Assuming I don't get pinkeye again!

Knock on wood…

March(ing Forward)!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Mar 07, 2024 at 05:37:29 AM

The State of ZERO.

Things are looking up! (They had to, right?) I had a frank talk with Tom about finishing SZ59 this year, and asked him to look at his schedule and tell me what he could realistically deliver, and when. He said:

"I'm intent on turning in at minimum one page per calendar week until it's finished. I'm actually intending on more than that, but some weeks are fuller than others as we continue to get our living arrangement sorted out. But the minimum workflow will be a page a week, meaning the pencils will be done in 12 weeks time. Again, I'm shooting for sooner."

Since then, Tom has handed in Page 15, where Our Heroes get some New Toys…

…meaning he has 11 PAGES still to draw. That would put his own, self-determined deadline at May 23. But things happen. Let's just say END OF MAY.

Fingers crossed!

Jerry has also been working away on the inks!

This is from Part 3, Page 18:

I hesitate to give a hard date for when this book will be done, but I am still aiming for some time this year. Step by step.

Your patience is greatly appreciated. As always.
