Latest Updates from Our Project:

HALF-TIME SHOW!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 27, 2019 at 07:58:08 PM

YOU! You're amazing!

Because of you— and about 800 people like you— I'm confident we'll hit $48,000 (80% funded) by the end of today. And today is the mid-point in our marathon sprint!

And I know it's you and not me because— as you may have heard— I've had the worst cold of my entire life this campaign. So bad many people— including myself— assumed it was the flu (even though I Got The Shot!).

WRONG!

Yesterday I was officially diagnosed with pneumonia! Oh, joy.

Which explains why I can only get out a couple social media posts a day. Which means the success-so-far of SECTION ZERO 1959 isn't because of my hyperbolic hucksterism. Oh, no.

It's because of YOU.

THANK YOU!

Please keep sharing the SECTION ZERO 1959 posts. The only way we get across the finish line is to find more people like you. And do you know who knows people like you? YOU DO! You know people I don't. People who like the same things you do. People who may well like SECTION ZERO 1959.

Like I always say: Support. Share. Spread the word. The only way we'll do this is if we do it together.

And now— THE HALF-TIME SHOW!

RON RANDALL is a good friend, a great artist, and dedicated to his creator-owned comic TREKKER— about the difficult jobs and journey of a 23rd century bounty hunter. He's Kickstarted two books so far— with no end in sight! Which is good news for all of us! If you don't know his work, you really should. Really.

IN OTHER NEWS…

BART SEARS' DRAWING POWERFUL HEROES: BRUTES AND BABES VOL. 2 is now live on Kickstarter! No one knows his way around the super-heroic figure like Bart— who made his bones by drawing a little book called JUSTICE LEAGUE! (among many others.) Bart is the 21st century version of Byrne Hogarth— who's Dynamic Anatomy and Dynamic Figure Drawing books taught a generation of artists– including me!— how to draw gods and heroes. If you have any interest in drawing— or even just looking at— the idealized human form, I highly recommend you check out this Kickstarter!

Until next time— stay healthy, OK?

I'M FEELING BETTER. THANKS FOR ASKING.
over 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 12:49:44 AM

Well, I spent the first part of this week sicker than I've been in years. Even worse: my wife was also sick— and the kids! It was no fun, believe me. And while I'm in no condition to run a marathon— Hell, I was never in condition to run a marathon!— and even going around the block with my son on his bike today wiped out both of us, I am trying to pick up the slack and keep snapping the whip on SECTION ZERO 1959.

Because I know that's what you would want.

We just passed 70% funded today— thank you Noah Hirahara-Picotte for putting us over that mark!— and if we keep this up, we should make SECTION ZERO 1959 a reality.

If we keep this up.

How can you help? Easy: spread the word. Tell your peeps. You know people I don't. I can bang the drum so loud it's deafening but those people will never hear a thing. Not if you don't tell them about SECTION ZERO 1959.

If you're not comfortable doing that, I understand. But if you're willing to do a little shilling for an exciting and extremely entertaining comic (not that I'm biased!) I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just always remember to include the link: section zero1959.com

Thank you.

Few other things…

I've finally added a RETAILERS REWARD LEVEL:

Been meaning to do this from the start. Sorry it took so long.

Of course, you don't have to be a retailer to get this. If you and five friends want to go in on it together, it's not like  anyone's going to check your credentials.

I also dropped the prices on the following:

A deal before— a steal now.

Lastly: please check out THE EYNES ANTHOLOGY on Kickstarter. It's a horror comic— so may not be to everyone's taste— but it's put together by my friend John Horsley, and he's donating $1 to National Suicide Prevention per book that's backed— $2 per book if he reaches his funding goal by the end of Friday, February 22nd! There are other cool rewards, too. Give it a look. Can't hurt, right?

That's all the news that fits right now. More soon.

Take care. And, my God— stay healthy!

"Hit 60 by 100!" Part 2
over 7 years ago – Sun, Feb 17, 2019 at 11:25:16 PM

Previously, in SECTION ZERO 1959 UPDATES…

I had thrown down the gauntlet to reach 60% funding by our 100th hour— Feb 16 at 1 PM PST— the catch being I had kid-care all day Saturday, and could do very little to help meet that mini-goal.

As it happened, I was near my computer shortly after 1 PM and saw this:

People… PEOPLE! I said 60% funded— not 600 Backers! Obviously, wires got crossed, transmissions got garbled…  ;-)

But seriously: 600 backers— 600 people like you standing beside me and behind SECTION ZERO 1959? I'll take that. Gladly.

I'd particularly like to thank Fred Bronaugh, who went above and beyond yesterday. We are definitely closer to our goal because of his efforts.

I have kid-care again today, so you probably won't see me being SZ59 lobbyist in social media's virtual halls much. And tomorrow is President's Day (which doesn't mean it's in honor of Trump, as I explained to my 6-year-old), so…

This campaign launched like a Saturn rocket, but it's about time for the first booster to kick in.

Hold on.

As Promised…

…Here's a graphic to help us "HIT 60 BY 100!" It's also up on Twitter and FB. If you and the other "Section Zero Irregulars" (Thank you, Ron Randall, for coining that!) could spread the word while I'm caring for the kiddos, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also added this morning:

Whatever you can do to help, in whatever way— thanks in advance.

Four Fantastic Days In...
over 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 15, 2019 at 11:39:11 PM

…and I couldn't be more amazed by what you've done. Over $33,000 in something like… 84 hours? (As I write this.) Mind-boggling!

Thank you.

Few things to catch you up on:

I've been taking care of the kids a lot the last couple days, so I was a bit behind in adding things to the MYSTERIOUS BAG OF SPECIAL EDITION SWAG. But as of now the Bag includes:

I'll be adding something else to the Bag when we hit $36,000, which could be… very soon!

In fact: Saturday at 1 PM PST marks SECTION ZERO 1959's 100th HOUR of crowdfunding. Wouldn't it be great to hit $36,000— the 60% mark— by then?

The thing is, my wife Myrna is one of the artist for McMenamins— and if you live in the Pacific NW you know all about the wonderful, eclectic brewpubs the McMenamins run— and she's on a tight deadline, so I'm helping her out by taking the kids for the day. So I won't be able to do much posting and prodding. Which means if this is going to happen, I'll need your help.

I'll put together a graphic in the morning, post it on FB and Twitter. Please feel free to share it, add your own comments, try to get it in front of as many new people as possible. With your help we might hit 40% by Hour 100!

What's in it for you? well, something new in the Swag Bag...

KARL RECOMMENDS...

DAN BRERETON'S GIANTKILLER. If you don't know about this Kickstarter, you really should.

It's about Giant Monsters— SECTION ZERO 1959 is about Giant Monsters (partly)— we should be friends! (Or at least fight and then team-up.) But seriously: there's a lot of common ground between the two projects. You like SECTION ZERO 1959, I'm betting there's a good chance you'll like GIANTKILLER, too.

Did I mention Dan is an amazing artist? Go to the GIANTKILLER page. You'll see.

This is the comics project currently on Kickstarter that I'm most excited about (other than SECTION ZERO 1959, that is). You really need to check it out.

Really.
