Trimmed sets of both SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES Trading Cards, with amusing and insightful quotes from each character, shipped in protective sleeves!
Place the cards face-down in the correct order and see a wonderful piece of NEW FULL-COLOR ART— SECTION ZERO ON EASTER ISALND or IMPOSSIBLE JONES "NIGHTHAWKS"!
UNCUTSHEETS, signed by the creators! The best way to view those wonderful new prints on the back of the cards.
Special Bonus Cards introducing SAM HELL!
And if you do know about these cool, collectible Trading Cards already, then you'll also notice there's been some changes…
SAM HELL— originally intended to be only a few "Bonus" Cards in this campaign— has proven so popular that, effective immediately, once we hit our initial goal of $8000:
If you get the SECTION ZERO UNCUT SHEET, you will automatically receive "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" 8-page SAM HELL story, Digital Download— at no extra cost!
If you get the IMPOSSIBLE JONES UNCUT SHEET, you will automatically receive "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" 8-page SAM HELL story, Digital Download— at no extra cost!
If you get BOTH SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES UNCUT SHEETS, you will automatically receive "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" 8-page SAM HELL story, Digital Download AND Printed Ashcan of the same story— signed and numbered by Karl Kesel!— at no extra cost!
Due to the how Kickstarter is run, I can't alter the existing pledge levels to reflect this. But trust me: it will happen. We hit $8K and you will be one of the first to read the very first SAM HELL story.
And it's a Christmas story!
One Hell of a Christmas story!
I already know the first panel: close-up on the smiling, radiant face of a young woman— Harper— snow coming down around her, with Sam's narration saying "When you meet the right one, you know it."
Can't wait to draw it!
Make me draw it!
I'm going to do everything I can to get this story in your hands, but bottom line is: I can't do it without you. So please do whatever you can:
If you're thinking of upgrading to an Uncut Sheet (or both!)— now's the time to do it.
Share the news. Make sure people know this is happening.
Think good thoughts.
I'm very excited and encouraged not just by the enthusiastic response SAM HELL has gotten, but at the chance to write and draw my first solo story since... hmmm... well, in a long time!
Hell, yeah!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hope your Holidays were everything you wanted them to be— and then some! Mine were quite nice, thanks for asking.
But enough about the past! Let's talk about the future! Because, as the great Criswell once said, "the future… is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives!"
My prediction: 2020 is going to be Year Zero!
(Then again: for me every year is Year Zero!)
Tom and I keep chipping away at SECTION ZERO 1959. Unfortunately, I don't have anything I can show you without spoiling things.
But there is something else I can show you…
MAKE 100! SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES Trading Cards!
In January, Kickstarter is running their annual MAKE 100 event— where people MAKE 100 of something. Something small, something personal, something that doesn't really fit in anywhere else.
I'm making Trading Cards for both SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES.
15 Cards for each "IP" ("Intellectual Property," as they're called nowadays).
1 Additional Card in each set introducing a new character named SAM HELL.
Each set available as a regular version, all cards in protective sleeves.
Each set also available as a special, Uncut Sheet— signed and numbered by their respective creators! I will only MAKE 100 of these Uncut Sheets for SECTION ZERO and 100 for IMPOSSIBLE JONES.
I'll point out these are SECTION ZERO cards, notSECTION ZERO 1959 cards. We simply don't have enough art from SZ59 to make a card set from… yet. I could have combined them, but SZ59 is so rich and wonderful, they really deserve their own set. I'm thinking next year…
Here's the best part: if you arrange all 16 cards in the proper order, face-down, you'll see this:
Note: the finished piece will be in Full Color— and is in Jeremy Colwell's capable hands right now!
Now, the only way to get this as a single, whole image is to get one of the Uncut Sheets (since it's on the back). And since there are only 100 of those, you might want to get one early. And the best way to do that is to click on the image or CLICK HERE. It will take you to a Pre-Launch Page where you can sign up to be notified the instant the project launches.
I plan to launch Tuesday, January 14th, about 7 AM PST— give or take, depending how early my kids get up and start demanding my attention.
And: Yes, #1 of the Uncut Sheets and #2—#10 are available as separate reward levels. After that, it's first come, first served. Just sayin'.
I want to add: except for the coloring mentioned above, these cards are all finished, and ready to go to the printer. You will get them in (comparatively) no time at all.
This has been a fun side project to put together, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I think it's a great way to start (my newest) Year Zero.
SEASON'S GREETINGS 1959 (+ 60 Years)!

Happy Holidays!
I love the Holidays because it's the only time of year everyone is as frantic and panicked as I feel every single day!
Seriously: I do enjoy the festive fun from Halloween (probably my son's favorite holiday) through Thanksgiving (because I love to cook!) and Christmas (Rudolph, Yukon Cornelius and the Bumble diorama set up? Check!), ending in early January (right around the time of my birthday, coincidentally enough).
The real fun part, of course, is trying to get work done while all that's going on!
And I'll admit we are far, far behind where I wanted to be on SECTION ZERO 1959. The reason is simple: Tom agreed to draw the ARCHIE 1955 mini-series, and it took up more time than he expected. In fact, it took up nearly all his time.
But that's about to change. As I write this, Tom is just back from a comic show in France (the sort of recognition he's long overdue, if you ask me) and he assures me it'll be SZ59 24-7 from now on. So I assume the Archie mini is finished! Good news for everyone!
Of course, I promised to send you PDFs of each chapter as they're finished. But even with Tom back on full-time at full speed, with inking and coloring and lettering it would take a miracle for you to see any new, finished SECTION ZERO story in less than a couple months.
It's Christmas, Theo! It's the time of miracles!
(As one of my very favorite Christmas movies says.)
As it happens, when I knew Tom's other work was going to push SZ59 back considerably, I decided to throw together a little something to tide you over. Tom and I (along with Bill Crabtree and the fine folk at Comicraft) are proud to present a special 12-page SECTION ZERO Christmas story:
This story is not set in 1959— it's about the present-day team. I thought it would be fun to check in on them and see how they're doing since the end of the first SECTION ZERO book. Besides, the Holidays are all about getting together with family and friends— and for Tom and myself, at least, these characters definitely qualify as both.
Happy Holidays— from our family, to yours.
Special Thanks to Charlie Stickney, writer of the great WHITE ASH comic (next Kickstarter coming in January 2020!). Read the story, you'll see why.
